Race Results Weekly, the Wire Service of Distance Running since 1994, has transitioned to become an editorial service. RRW founder, editor and publisher David Monti will no longer send out the familiar Monday newsletter with race results compilations, but will instead focus on producing stories and photos as he did before. Stories will be released when there is news to report and not on any set schedule.
“When I started RRW in 1994 race results were nearly impossible to get, and RRW made it possible for people to see results in a timely way,” Monti said. “But today, nearly all event results are available on-line, and although a consolidation of results still has value it is no longer worth the effort of compiling so much data manually.”
All present RRW subscribers will continue to receive RRW’s award-winning stories and photos as they did before, and can renew those subscriptions for $75 per year when their present subscriptions expire. Without the burden of compiling results every weekend, Monti hopes to have more time to cover the sport through journalism. The service will produce well over 100 stories per year.
“There have been so many stories I’ve wanted to do but was too exhausted from compiling the Monday newsletter,” Monti said. “We have a full slate of event coverage planned for 2025, and I subscribers will enjoy robust coverage of events, elite athletes, and the running industry.”
Monti’s stories will continue to be accompanied by photos taken by his wife and business partner, Jane Monti, and those stories will continue to be syndicated to various running websites through the RRW Wire syndication program. That program gives RRW tens of thousands of readers.
“We have a surprisingly large audience through syndication,” Monti added.
