About Road Race Management
Road Race Management, Inc. is the publisher of the Road Race Management E-News and the organizer of the Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting and Trade Exhibit held annually in December. Founded in 1982 by Running Times Magazine, RRM was purchased by current Editor and Publisher Phil Stewart in 1986. Today, Road Race Management is on the web at www.rrm.com which contains the RRM Guide to Prize Money Races, the Doping Sanctions site and the Longest Serving Race Director site in addition to industry news updated daily. RRM’s mission is to serve the race directing community and the industry that supports them.

Tom is a recreational runner and a retired Federal employee. His years of volunteer work for Montgomery County Road Runners led him into working in the running industry starting with webmaster and race worker for Capital Running Company, Finished Product, Charm City Run Events, and USATF Potomac Valley. He also contributed content on the Running Times Magazine’s website and is a long time Credit Union Cherry Blossom race committee member and Social Media Editor for RRM. Also an Army Veteran.
Dave Kayser: Dave is the Editor of the Business Page which appears on the homepage and provides a monthly digest of industry updates in a unique narrative stype. After working for the National Park Service for 34 years and running some 50 marathons, Dave Kayser is now on easy street, writing for Road Race Management, gardening, collecting old running shoes and cycling every day. Claudia Piepenburg is one of our feature writers and is a former race director (Army Ten-Miler) and elite runner (’88 Olympic Marathon Team Trials qualifier, 20th women 1987 Boston Marathon, 24th woman 1990 NYC Marathon (third master) and woman’s winner 1986 Virginia Beach Marathon. She has lived in and run in California, Virginia, Wisconsin, Tennessee, Florida and North Carolina. She now lives in Michigan where she first started running in 1981. She was the senior copywriter for Road Runner Sports in the mid-90s and now writes short stories, several of which have been published, and novels, her debut novel was published in 2019 and she’s currently working on her second. Phil Stewart is the President and CEO of Road Race Management, Inc. He was a nationally competitive distance runners in the mid 1970s. When his times started to slow, he was able to stay in the sport by being one of the founders of Running Times Magazine in 1977, starting to edit Road Race Management in 1982 and becoming the director of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in 1991. At an age where his PRs are nearly half a century old, he recently managed to enter a small group of runners who have completed 50-mile races over a span of more than 50 years. Jeff Darman is our Marketing Manager and is a runner, founded and directed many races, varied career spanning foreign service in Australia (political appointment) domestic government service, writer and was consultant to many running companies.
