Race winRace winners also earned automatic eligibility to compete for the $10,000 PRRO Super Bonus at the 2026 PRRO Championship presented by Bix 7; in addition, 2-10 finishers scored points in the Super Bonus qualification system DAVENPORT, IA – (July 31, 2025) – At the 51st Quad-City Times Bix 7, the first stop on the 2025-26 PRRO Circuit, on a rainy Saturday morning, July 26, American Alex Maier and Kenyan Vibian Chepkirui won close races in 32 minutes, 2 seconds and 36:41, respectively. With their victories, the pair earned automatic eligibility to compete for the $10,000 PRRO Super Bonus at the 29th PRRO Championship hosted by Bix 7 next July plus the $12,500 race champion’s prize money from the $50,000 Open purse. After the event’s first-ever one-hour delay due to local thunderstorms, the men’s race was taken out hard up the Brady Street Hill, like last year by defending champion Wesley Kiptoo, but unlike last year, one runner went with Kiptoo, rising star Alex Maier. The two pushed each other over the challenging 7 mile race course before Maier pulled away in the final stretch to win by 12 seconds, 32:02 to 32:14 for runner-up Kiptoo. American Nathan Martin repeated as third finisher in 32:44. Maier, 25, from Chapel Hill, NC, recorded the fastest time by an American on the Bix 7 course; the previous best mark was 32:17 by Marc Nenow in 1989. In addition, his performance was the fastest at Bix in 27 years and the 5th fastest overall. The women’s race also was a duel, between Chepkirui and fellow Kenyan Cynthia Limo, and like the men’s race, the winner broke away near the end to prevent any challenge. Chepkirui, 31, crossed the finish line in 36:41, followed by 2015 race champion Limo in 36:45. Julia Paternain of Uruguay took third in 36:55 and American Everlyn Kemboi was fourth (37:05). Defending women’s champion Rachael Chebet finished fifth in 37:17. In addition, finishers 2-10 at Bix 7 earned points for the Super Bonus points system. The top 5 scorers overall at the five 2025-26 Circuit races before the PRRO Championship at Bix next year will qualify to compete for the $10,000 PRRO Super Bonus. “Despite the rain, there was world class racing at the Quad-City Times Bix 7, the first stop on the 2025-26 PRRO Circuit.
