Top international elite field includes defending race champions and 11 athletes overall who qualified to compete for the PRRO title’s Super Bonus on Sunday, July 13 in Utica, NY
BETHESDA, MD – (July 10, 2025) – The PRRO Circuit, America’s Classic Road Races™, will contest its 28th PRRO Championship at the 48th Boilermaker 15K presented by Excellus BlueCross BlueShield on Sunday morning, July 13 in Utica, NY. Hosting its fifth PRRO Championship (also, 2014-16 and 2022), the race is expecting another top international elite field, including defending race champions John Korir and Grace Loibach Nawowuna, both from Kenya. The Boilermaker will award $65,100 in prize money, including $7000 for each race champion and $14,500 in U.S. prize money.   In addition, the PRRO Championship will also offer the following prize money: A $20,000 PRRO Super Bonus to male or female champions who are either defending champions, have won any of the PRRO Circuit 2024-25 races or qualified via the newly-implemented points system instituted during the current Circuit series (Super Bonus split if both eligible male and female win) $2500 to male or female championship winners if they are not eligible for the Super Bonus $1500 to eligible PRRO event champions, males and females, finishing in places 2-10   At Boilermaker 2025, below are the 11 confirmed PRRO Super Bonus athletes ready to race for the $20,000 bonus:   SEVEN AUTOMATIC BY CIRCUIT SERIES WIN (in date order) John Korir, Kenya (Boilermaker 15K 2024) Grace Loibach Nawowuna, Kenya (Boilermaker 15K 2024) Wesley Kiptoo, Kenya (Quad City-Times Bix 7 2024 and Gate River Run 15K 2025) Rachael Chebet, Uganda (Quad City-Times Bix 7 2024) Charles Hicks, USA (Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile 2025 Patrick Kiprop, Kenya (Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K 2025) Veronica Loleo, Kenya (Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K 2025)   FOUR QUALIFIED BY TOP 5 IN POINTS SYSTEM Scored points by finishing between 2nd – 10th from at least one 2024-25 PRRO Circuit race Biya Simbassa, USA Adane Anmaw, Ethiopia Cynthia Limo, Kenya Kassie Parker, USA   “With an expanded number of athletes eligible for the $20,000 PRRO Super Bonus at Boilermaker, it is more likely than not that the Super Bonus will be paid out at the 28th PRRO Championship, and we look forward to seeing some great competition on the streets of Utica, New York,” said Don Kardong, PRRO Circuit President.   The last Super Bonus winner was Rosemary Wanjiru of Kenya, who claimed the entire $10,000 bonus back in 2022, the last time that the Boilermaker 15K hosted the championship race. The bonus resets to $10,000 the year after it has been won and grows by $5000 each year it is unclaimed.   The 2025 PRRO Championship titlists at Boilermaker will also earn automatic berths to compete for the PRRO Super Bonus at the 29th PRRO Championship at the Quad City-Times Bix 7 in Davenport, IA next July.   The Boilermaker sold-out its events: the 15K with 10,600 entrants, the 5K with 4,500 entrants and the Walk and Kids Run on Saturday, July 12 with 1,700-plus entrants.   The PRRO Circuit showcases world class competition at five of America’s Classic Road Races™, the Gate River Run 15K in Jacksonville, FL, the Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in Washington, DC, the Lilac Bloomsday Run 12K in Spokane, WA, the Boilermaker 15K in Utica, NY and the Quad-City Times Bix 7 in Davenport, IA. Overall, the pair and 21 other athletes (9 qualified by winning 2024-25 Circuit events and 12 qualified via the newly-implemented PRRO Championship points system) became eligible for the Super Bonus.   To-date, PRRO Circuit events have produced 18 world and 22 U.S. road records, awarded more than $8.7 million in prize money and seen more than 2.8 million runners cross their finish lines. In addition, since 1996, the PRRO Championship race has paid out more than $2.2 million including $188,500 in PRRO Championship bonus money.   PRRO Championship and Circuit Year The PRRO Circuit, launched in 1995, starts and finishes the Circuit Year at the same event that will also host the season-ending PRRO Championship race.
