CHICAGO, IL – Three-time Bank of America Chicago Marathon champion Daniel Romanchuk has withdrawn from this year’s race due to injury. Romanchuk suffered a shoulder injury following an on-course collision with a spectator at this year’s TCS Sydney Marathon.

“I’m incredibly disappointed that I won’t be able to compete in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon next week due to a recently sustained shoulder injury,” said Romanchuk. “Chicago was my first major marathon and my first AbbottWMM win, and as a member of the University of Illinois training group, it feels like missing a hometown race. I’m focusing on rehab and supporting my wife as she runs this year, but I’m already eagerly anticipating being back racing the streets of Chicago myself in 2026!”

Though he’s not racing, Romanchuk, who lives in Champaign, IL, will be in town race weekend to cheer on his wife Hannah who is signed up to participate in this year’s event.
