BOSTON – In preparation for Monday’s 129th running of the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, we invite media members to review helpful resources, statistics, and storylines. We look forward to welcoming the world to tomorrow’s race and wish the best of luck to all participants as they make their way from Hopkinton to Boston.

Programming Note: A special ceremony featuring the National Lancers will honor the 250th anniversary of Patriots’ Day at the finish line at 9:30 a.m. on race morning. Spectators and media are encouraged to be in place early to see the special recognition on Boylston Street.

Official results will be made available within the press room as soon as they are finalized; these will be available for print-out and through digital copy through the Media Resources link above.

In-race mile splits are available in real time for members of the media through https://bstnmar.org/25BMMileSplits. Splits for the men’s, women’s, men’s wheelchair, and women’s wheelchair leaders will be available.

Press Conferences

Press conferences with the wheelchair division champions, top three open division finishers, and top Americans will be held within the Grand Ball Room press center following the conclusion of all four professional races. Transcripts and audio recordings will be available upon the conferences’ conclusion. As a reminder, we ask media not to take personal photographs with any professional athletes as a matter of courtesy to the athletes and your fellow working media professionals. Finishers outside of the wheelchair division, top three open division, and top Americans can be interviewed at the Mixed Zone on Boylston Street.

Mixed Zone

Members of the media looking to interview general athletes and professionals finishing outside the podium may do so at the designated mixed zone area located at the northeast intersection of Boylston Street & Dartmouth Street. To access this area from the Fairmont Hotel, you must walk down Berkeley or Clarendon Streets to Boylston Street, then turn left. From Newbury Street or points north, you may enter this location via the Dartmouth Street/Boylston Street intersection. A map of this area is available within the press center.

B.A.A. representatives will be on hand to help coordinate athlete availability upon request within the mixed zone.

Champions Photo Call at View Boston: A reminder to media that the champions will appear for a photo-op high above the city on Tuesday, April 22 from 9:30 a.m.-10:00 a.m. at View Boston at the Prudential. Media planning to attend must RSVP to media@baa.org. Following the photo-op at View Boston, the champions will take part in the Champions’ Press Conference at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel from 10:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.

Where To Watch

This year’s Boston Marathon will be aired live in its entirely throughout New England on WCVB (coverage from 4:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.), and nationally on ESPN2 from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Internationally, it will be aired on a variety of networks. Listings and information can be found here.

National Anthem: Joelle James, a Grammy Award Winner, multi-Platinum Artist Songwriter and Berklee College of Music graduate.

Flyover: Two F-15’s from the Unit 104 Fighter Wing out of Westfield, MA. They will fly from Hopkinton to Boston in approximately 4 minutes.

Grand Marshals: 1975 Boston Marathon Champions Bob Hall and Bill Rodgers. Celebrating their 50th anniversary of their victories, both will be driven the course in the all-new 2026 Honda Passport.

Record Streaks: Mark Bauman (Michigan) and Patty Hung (California) will aim to complete their 56th and 39th consecutive Boston Marathons, respectively. By finishing, they’ll extend the longest consecutive finish streaks in Boston Marathon history for men’s and women’s athletes.

Official Starters:

Men’s & Women’s Wheelchair Division: Dave Estrada, instrumental for many years in helping to grow the wheelchair field as part of our B.A.A. staff and Organizing Committee.

Handcycle & Dup Participants: Russ Hoyt, representing iconic Team Hoyt. Rick & Dick Hoyt completed more than 30 Boston Marathons.

Professional Men: Mark Bauman of Michigan. Mark is aiming to finish his 56th consecutive Boston Marathon this year – the longest consecutive finish streak in race history. He’s wearing bib no. 16774.

Professional Women: Patty Hung of California. Patty is aiming to finish her 39th consecutive Boston Marathon this year – the longest consecutive finish streak in race history. She’s wearing bib no. 16764.

Para Athletics Division: Marla Runyan, an Olympian and Paralympian, who as a member of the B.A.A. staff helped establish prize money and awards as part of the Para Athletics Divisions at the Boston Marathon and B.A.A. Events.

Wave 1: Christina Whelton, a member of the distinguished Brown family. It has been tradition for more than 100 years that a member of the Brown family starts the Boston Marathon.

Wave 2: Larry Murphy, a long-time member of the Boston Marathon Organizing Committee who helped coordinate transportation at the Boston Marathon for decades.

Wave 3: Jean Cann, Head Coach of the Hopkinton Girls Track & Field team for the past 9 years and a member of the Hopkinton Marathon Committee for 11 years. 

Wave 4: Pat O’Brien, retired Hopkinton Police Officer working his 43rd Boston Marathon. Pat is a retired basketball coach and referee, and member of the Friends of Hopkinton Committee.
