The second-annual event continues to add enhancements to showcase Savannah’s community charm
SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah Southern Half Marathon returns for its second annual event on Nov. 14 with a new course that starts and ends in Forsyth Park, featuring a one-of-a-kind tour of Savannah in between. The event will also offer access to local run clubs and training runs, exclusive giveaways and partner perks for community members, a local Spotify playlist and a myriad of race day features to further showcase the City of Savannah. This year’s event has already seen an increase in registration of 120%, with an expected field of over 6,000 runners. Entries are expected to sell out, and early registration is highly encouraged.
The picturesque half marathon course will start at Forsyth Park and weave participants through the heart of the city and into historic neighborhoods lined with oak trees and draped in Spanish moss while passing porch swings and church bells. After running through the iconic Savannah Bananas stadium, participants will loop back to Forsyth Park to enjoy the Finish Festival, featuring local music, food and more. The new loop course will provide an even more seamless experience for spectators and runners pre- and post-race. For those looking to include the whole family, young children are welcome at the Fleet Feet 5K, a 3.1-mile walker-friendly course.
“Last year’s race highlighted the incredible potential of this event. In just our first year, we were able to exceed so many goals, while also providing a great racing experience for locals and visitors from around the nation,” said Crystian Kumnick, Managing Director of Motiv Sports, producer of the Savannah Southern Half. “We plan to continue to grow and adapt this event throughout the years to ensure we continue to showcase the beautiful charm of Savannah and create the best runner’s experience we can.”
The Savannah Southern Half further celebrates its commitment to community and philanthropy through its continued partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS). Participants have the option to join Team DetermiNation to raise funds for ACS’s mission to improve the lives of cancer patients and their families through advocacy, research and patient support to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer.
