Take a first look at and tour the expanded and redesigned “third space” for New York City’s running community

WHAT:

New York Road Runners (NYRR)—the nonprofit that “runs” New York City producing 60 annual adult and youth races including the TCS New York City Marathon—will host a ribbon cutting ceremony as the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub reopens to the public after a seven-month renovation.

The expanded RUNCENTER has been redesigned to meet the needs of New York City’s growing and evolving running community, marking the first major renovation of the space since it opened in 2017. Nearly a decade later, as running has exploded in popularity, the RUNCENTER serves as a welcoming, community-driven “third space” where New Yorkers and visitors can come together through a shared love of running and movement.

The event will feature remarks from New York Road Runners CEO Rob Simmelkjaer, a photo opportunity with NYRR leadership, and a private first-look tour of the space for members of the media.

ADDITIONAL NYRR RUNCENTER BACKGROUND:

Since 2017, the NYRR RUNCENTER has served as a year-round home for New York City’s running community, welcoming hundreds of thousands of runners as they picked up weekly race bib numbers and souvenirs, tried on and purchased New Balance gear, participated in a wide range of events and programming, and used the convenient location as a meeting place for group runs.

The NYRR RUNCENTER will continue to welcome thousands of visitors each week, providing bib pickup, lockers for those looking to store their belongings while out on a run, changing rooms, bathrooms, water fountains, charging stations, and sneaker recycling.

The space has been completely redesigned to highlight New York Road Runners’ rebrand and new “Believe in Every Step” brand platform and expanded to offer additional space for enhanced programming and events.
