BOSTON – In preparation for Monday’s 130th running of the Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America, we invite media members to review helpful resources, statistics, and storylines. We look forward to welcoming the world to tomorrow’s race and wish the best of luck to all participants as they make their way from Hopkinton to Boston. 

Of note, yesterday the inaugural B.A.A. Youth Mile presented by Boston Children’s Hospital welcomed nearly 1,400 youth ages 7-14 across the Boston Marathon finish line, marking the largest youth event in B.A.A. history.

Racing App. Official results will be made available within the press room as soon as they are finalized; these will be available for print-out and through digital copy through the Media Resources link above.

In-race mile splits are available in real time for members of the media through https://bstnmar.org/26BMMileSplits. Splits for the men’s, women’s, men’s wheelchair, and women’s wheelchair leaders will be available.  

Press Conferences 

Press conferences with the wheelchair division champions, top three open division finishers, and top Americans will be held within the Grand Ball Room press center following the conclusion of all four professional races. Transcripts and audio recordings will be available upon the conferences’ conclusion. As a reminder, we ask media not to take personal photographs with any professional athletes as a matter of courtesy to the athletes and your fellow working media professionals. Finishers outside of the wheelchair division champions, top three open division, and top Americans can be interviewed at the Mixed Zone on Boylston Street. 

Mixed Zone 

Members of the media looking to interview general athletes and professionals finishing outside the podium may do so at the designated mixed zone area located at the northeast intersection of Boylston Street & Dartmouth Street. To access this area from the Fairmont Hotel, you must walk down Berkeley or Clarendon Streets to Boylston Street, then turn left. From Newbury Street or points north, you may enter this location via the Dartmouth Street/Boylston Street intersection. A map of this area is available within the press center. 

B.A.A. representatives will be on hand to help coordinate athlete availability upon request within the mixed zone.

Where To Watch 

This year’s Boston Marathon will be aired live in its entirely throughout New England on WCVB (coverage from 4:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m.), and nationally on ESPN2 from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Internationally, it will be aired on a variety of networks. Listings and information can be found here. 

Pro Field Updates: The following athletes have withdrawn from this year’s Boston Marathon: Carolyn Buchanan (CAN), Ava Crean (IRL).

News & Notes:  

National Anthem: Phaedra Butler, hailing from Cambridge, Massachusetts, is an award-winning singer, songwriter and producer, and will be releasing her “Heart of A Woman” album this summer.

Grand Marshal: 1976 Boston Marathon Champion Jack Fultz, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Run for the Hoses, Jack will be driven through the course in the all-new 2026 Honda Passport.  

Flyover Information: One C-130 operated by the 103rd Airlift Wing of the CTANG out of Bradley Air National Guard Base will flyover, crossing the start line at approximately 9:55:30 AM and flying over the entire Boston Marathon Course. It will take approximately six minutes to fly from Hopkinton to Boston.

Record Streaks: Mark Bauman (Michigan) and Patty Hung (California) will aim to complete their 57th and 40th consecutive Boston Marathons, respectively. By finishing, they’ll extend the longest consecutive finish streaks in Boston Marathon history for men’s and women’s athletes.  

Olympic Gold: Members of the Boston Fleet and Olympic Medalists Megan Keller, Aerin Frankel, Alina Müller and Haley Winn will hand out medals to finishers at approximately 1 p.m. on Boylston Street.

Official Starters:  

  • Men’s & Women’s Wheelchair Division: Susannah Scaroni, defending women’s wheelchair champion and two-time Boston winner. Additionally, Susannah was named champion at the TCS New York City Marathon, Bank of America Chicago Marathon, and TCS Sydney Marathon in 2025.
  • Handcycle & Duo Participants: Russ Hoyt, representing iconic Team Hoyt. Rick & Dick Hoyt completed more than 30 Boston Marathons. 
  • Professional Men: Zdeno Chara, former Boston Bruins captain who spent 24 seasons in the NHL. Zdeno is running this year’s marathon and will wear bib number 3333 as he wore #33 for the Boston Bruins.
  • Professional Women: Des Linden, 2018 Boston Marathon champion. Des will be running this year and will wear bib number 2018 in honor of her first-place finish in 2018.
  • Para Athletics Division: Alex Danahy, longtime volunteer from Hopkinton, Massachusetts.
  • Wave 1: Tony Reed, co-founder and Executive Director of the National Black Marathoners Association. 
  • Wave 2: Christina Whelton, member of the distinguished Brown family tied to the Boston Marathon for more than 100 years. 
  • Wave 3: Gary Daugherty, Hopkinton Fire Chief/Emergency Management Director, has spent two decades workingfor the Boston Marathon.
  • Wave 4: Eric Carty, Retired Hopkinton Water-Sewer Manager, is celebrating 40 years of service. 
  • Wave 5: Carol Cavanaugh, former Superintendent of Hopkinton Public Schools, retired in 2025 after nine years of service. 
  • Wave 6: Jeff Pyne, representing the family of Henry Arthur “Artie” Pyne, who passed this year. Jeff has served as a Hopkinton volunteer firefighter and special police officer for the last 45 years.
