WHAT:

To preview the TCS New York City Marathon, the best day of the year, in the best city in the world, New York Road Runners (NYRR)—the nonprofit that “runs” New York City—will host a pre-race media availability with the top professional open division and wheelchair division athletes. The historically deep and diverse TCS New York City Marathon professional athlete field features 46 Olympians and Paralympians, 17 Olympic, Paralympic, and World Championships medalists, five former New York City Marathon open division champions, and six former New York City Marathon wheelchair division champions.  

On Sunday, Nov. 2, professional athletes from 19 countries and territories will lead more than 55,000 athletes through the five boroughs for one of the world’s largest and most iconic sporting events. Last year’s TCS New York City Marathon set an event record with 55,643 finishers, which at the time was the largest marathon in world history.  

WHO:

  • Hillary Bor (USA): Two-time Olympian; seven-time national champion; making his marathon debut 
  • Sheila Chepkirui (KEN): Defending TCS New York City Marathon champion 
  • Sifan Hassan (NED): Three-time Olympic gold medalist 
  • Marcel Hug (SUI): Six-time TCS New York City Marathon champion; event record holder 
  • Eliud Kipchoge (KEN): Two-time Olympic gold medalist; 11-time Abbott World Marathon Majors champion  
  • Benson Kipruto (KEN): 2024 Paris Olympic marathon bronze medalist 
  • Joe Klecker (USA): Olympian; national champion; making his marathon debut 
  • Sharon Lokedi (KEN): 2022 TCS New York City Marathon champion; defending Boston Marathon champion 
  • Alexander Mutiso (KEN): 2024 TCS London Marathon champion 
  • Abdi Nageeye (NED): Defending TCS New York City Marathon champion 
  • Hellen Obiri (KEN): 2023 TCS New York City Marathon champion; three-time Olympic medalist 
  • Susannah Scaroni (USA): Defending TCS New York City Marathon champion 
  • Molly Seidel (USA): 2020 Tokyo Olympic marathon bronze medalist 
  • Biya Simbassa (USA): National champion; fifth fastest American marathoner in history
