New York, Oct. 21, 2025 New York Road Runners (NYRR), the nonprofit that “runs” New York City producing 60 annual adult and youth races including the TCS New York City Marathon, today announced the 2025 Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K professional athlete field ahead of the Saturday, Nov. 1, race, which will feature seven Olympians and seven U.S. national champions across a variety of disciplines, including two-time Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K winner Annie Rodenfels.

“The Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K gives runners from around the world the chance to take in the energy of New York City during marathon weekend without having to run 26.2 miles,” said Rob Simmelkjaer, New York Road Runners CEO. “The day before more than 55,000 runners from more than 150 countries take on the TCS New York City Marathon—the best day of the year, in the best city in the world—10,000 athletes will experience the thrill of crossing that same iconic finish line in Central Park, including many marathon participants shaking out their legs before the big day.”

Rodenfels, a three-time national champion who successfully defended her Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K title last year, will be joined by four American record holders: Olympic medalist and 3,000-meter steeplechase American record holder Courtney Frerichs; four-time national champion Weini Kelati, who broke the American half marathon record in January; Olympian Alicia Monson, the current American record holder in the two-mile, 5,000 meters, and 10,000 meters; and World Indoor Champion Elle St. Pierre, who holds the American indoor records in the mile and 3,000 meters, and is returning to competition after giving birth in May.

“Racing through the streets of New York City has always brought out the best in me and it’s an honor to be back at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K to defend my title against such a talented field,” said Rodenfels. “2025 has been a transformative year for me as I moved states and coaches, so I’m excited to return to New York City with fresh energy.”

Additional standouts in the women’s field include two-time national champion Taylor Roe, who recently competed at the 2025 World Athletics Championships; four-time NCAA champion Katelyn Tuohy; and Olympian and NCAA record holder in the indoor and outdoor 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters Parker Valby.

The men’s race will be headlined by Olympian, two-time national champion, and Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K event record holder Abdihamid Nur.

Nur will be challenged by a deep field of accomplished road and track athletes, including Kenyans Amon Kemboi, who won the 2025 Falmouth Road Race in August; Patrick Kiprop, who claimed victory at the 2025 AJC Peachtree Road Race and finished runner-up at Falmouth; and Olympian Edwin Kurgat, the seventh-place finisher in the 10,000 meters at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. The Americans will be rounded out by Anthony Rotich, a two-time national champion and former Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K winner; and NCAA stars Drew Bosley, the former NCAA record holder in the indoor 3,000 meters, and Cole Sprout, a five-time All-American.

“Winning the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K in 2022 and setting the event record was a huge moment at the beginning of my professional career, and I’ve been looking forward to coming back ever since,” said Nur. “New York City brings an energy that’s hard to match and I’m ready to test myself against a world-class field and see what I can do.”

In addition to the professional and adult athletes, the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K will host the 2025 USA Track & Field (USATF) National Youth 5K Championships, with kids between the ages of 13 to 18 from across the country participating.

Abbott, the title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, will sponsor the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K for the ninth year. Abbott, a global healthcare leader, helps people live more fully with life-changing technology and celebrate what’s possible with good health.

“The TCS New York City Marathon is an iconic event that brings millions of spectators and tens of thousands of runners from around the world into New York. Whether you’re shaking out your legs before the marathon or want to experience the excitement of race weekend with a shorter running distance, the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K allows runners of all abilities to enjoy the energy of race weekend and all you can accomplish when you prioritize health,” said Chris Miller, Divisional Vice President of Global Brand Strategy and Innovation at Abbott.

An annual tradition, the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K gives TCS New York City Marathon supporters, friends, and families the opportunity to join in on the thrill of marathon race week and get a taste of the famed marathon finish line feeling. The course begins on Manhattan’s east side by the United Nations, then takes runners along 42nd Street past historic Grand Central Terminal and up Sixth Avenue past the world-famous Radio City Music Hall. After tackling the rolling hills of Central Park, athletes end the race at the iconic TCS New York City Marathon finish line.

Full coverage of the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K will be livestreamed on New York Road Runners’ YouTube channel from 8:20–9 a.m. ET, including post-race interviews with the champions. On-air talent Olympian Carrie Tollefson and running journalist Chris Chavez will provide expert commentary of the professional races in front of a live audience at the finish line in Central Park. The champions will also appear on an episode of the NYRR Set the Pace Presented by Peloton podcast later in the afternoon.
