SAN DIEGO, Calif. – SeaWorld San Diego’s Howl-O-Sprint 5K Run presented by Road Runner Sports will be returning for its second annual event on Oct. 19, 2025. With the park decked out for the park’s Howl-O-Scream and Halloween Spooktacular events, the race is an entertaining way for runners and walkers to experience SeaWorld and add the event to their Halloween festivities. The Howl-O-Sprint 5K Run includes the opportunity for kids to join in on the fun, offering a Kids 1K Run. Registration for the 5K and 1K distances is currently open. The Howl-O-Sprint 5K Run will take participants on a 3.1-mile course throughout the SeaWorld San Diego park. The unique course will weave through different animal and marine life exhibits while also featuring Halloween surprises, themed photo moments and spooky characters who pop-up along the route. “We loved seeing race participants decked out in costumes and themed outfits—it brought so much extra fun to the event! The atmosphere is upbeat, welcoming, and perfect for runners and walkers of all levels to experience the park in a whole new way,” said Sean Daughtery, Vice President of Operations for SeaWorld San Diego. “The Howl-O-Sprint 5K and Kids Run was such a fun experience for not only participants, but also our team members this last year, and we can’t wait to continue on the tradition!” Halloween costumes are highly encouraged for all participants as they take part in the morning spooktacular festivity. All participants will receive an official race shirt, a race bib with a timing chip, a one-of-a-kind finisher medal and eligibility for awards, including Road Runner Sports gift cards for the top three finishers in each category. For guests looking for more Halloween fun, they can set sail on a pirate-themed Halloween adventure filled with interactive activities and entertainment, a pumpkin patch trick-or-treating and an array of photo-worthy moments with Spookley the Square Pumpkin, and Mermaid Meets at Halloween Spooktacular on Saturdays and Sundays now through November 2. Howl-O-Scream is celebrating its fifth anniversary, returning with more thrills, chills and unexpected frights. As the sun sets and darkness creeps in, five haunted houses come alive, eight scare zones emerge, coasters race through the night and eerie energy and entertainment take over the park.
