SNOWBIRD, Utah (July 28, 2025) – The Speedgoat® Mountain Races by UTMB® once again delivered iconic mountain races that challenged elite and amateur trail runners alike amidst the breathtaking panoramic views of the Wasatch Mountains. Over 1,600 registered runners from 33 countries, regions and territories around the globe descended on Snowbird Ski Resort in Snowbird, Utah, on Friday, July 25, and Saturday, July 26. Participants took on the three demanding courses of 50km, 28km, and 10km filled with beautiful mountain trails, wildflowers and unique rocky terrain.

On Friday, the Speedgoat Mountain Races by UTMB kicked off the racing as runners took to the 28km course beginning at the famous Snowbird Plaza Center. Christian Allen (USA) took the victory, speeding past the competition and finishing in 2:50:45. Sage Canaday (USA) finished in second place with a time of 3:07:05, while Seth Wealing (USA) took third with a finishing time of 3:25:09. In the women’s race, Kodi Kleven (USA) was crowned champion in the 28km race with a time of 3:44:02, followed by Shalyn Gieringer (USA) who crossed the finish line second with a time of 3:49:53. Trailing closely behind in third place was Sandi Nypaver (USA), completing the course in 3:51:09.

In the second race of the day, Shawn Little (USA) took the top spot in the men’s 10km race with a time of 47:41. Janelle Day (USA) was the female 10km winner with a time of 57:03. Andrew Mah (USA) and Eric Thoreson (USA) rounded out the podium in the men’s competition, while Haley Farrar (USA) and Nora O’Connor (USA) claimed second and third, respectively, in the women’s 10km race.

The racing continued through Saturday, where runners ascended into the mountains for the 50km race. For his first podium finish at Speedgoat Mountain Races, Ryan Becker (USA) put down a speedy time of 5:17:26, ascending from a seventh-place finish in last year’s race. Hot on Becker’s heels was Erik Sorenson (USA), finishing in second with a time of 5:17:32, just 6 seconds after Becker. Anthony Williams (USA) rounded out the men’s top three with a time of 5:20:07.

When discussing his 50km win, Becker said that his strategy during this race and throughout this year is to “keep chipping away.” He added, “Broken Arrow, the world’s team…those were a big surprise, and it just gives me confidence to keep it rolling year after year. I’m in a really good spot right now and feel awesome after this race.”

The women’s 50km race was a masterclass in consistency, with Jennifer Lichter (USA) leading the women’s race through its entirety, culminating in a winning time of 5:54:36. Lichter has had a strong start to the 2025 racing season with additional first place placements at the Transgrancanaria marathon as well as Broken Arrow Skyrace 46km. Following close on her heels was Emma Cook-Clarke (CAN), crossing the finish line in second with a time of 6:00:59. Grayson Murphy (USA) rounded out the women’s top three with a finishing time of 6:02:36.

“All day I was pushing the pedal,” said Lichter at the Snowbird Plaza finish line. When asked what her favorite part of the course was, she said “The top of Mt. Baldy—it was insane, especially the second time going up. I think the crowd cheering really, really helped everyone because at that point, you’re feeling it. Your legs are shot, and the crowd is telling you to go go go; it’s so helpful to have that energy when you don’t have it within, being able to have people to help pull you along is one of the greatest things.”

All finishers of the Speedgoat Mountain Races by UTMB collected Running Stones that can be applied to the UTMB Mont-Blanc draw.
