LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The McCourt Foundation, the nonprofit organization behind the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon, today announced Lightspeed Commerce Inc. (NYSE | TSX: LSPD), the unified omnichannel platform powering ambitious retail, golf and hospitality businesses in over 100 countries, as the Official POS Software Platform Partner for the 2027 ASICS Los Angeles Marathon and Presenting Sponsor of the Marathon’s Virtual Swag Bag.
The new collaboration is aimed at building awareness and engagement with small businesses, which are woven into the running community nationwide. From running-focused retailers and service providers to runners themselves who are entrepreneurs and small business leaders, this partnership is designed to reach a demographic where high-performance athletics and high-growth commerce meet.
“The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon represents the ultimate intersection of endurance and community,” said Karen O’Connell, Head of Sponsorship at The McCourt Foundation. “Lightspeed builds the tools that allow businesses to run faster and smarter, and we are thrilled for Lightspeed to bring that same energy to the streets of LA in support of both the athletes and the local businesses that fuel them. It is a perfect match.”
As the presenting sponsor of the Virtual Swag Bag, Lightspeed Commerce is powering its connection to runners with the bag’s exclusive offers from the marathon’s sponsors and Lifestyle Expo vendors. Lightspeed will be on the ground at the expo at Dodger Stadium March 5 and 6, 2027, engaging with the leaders who run the retail side of the sports world. Attendees can experience firsthand how Lightspeed’s sophisticated commerce tools help specialty outdoor and athletic retailers scale as fast as the runners they serve.
On race day, runners should watch for Lightspeed activations throughout the event, including the Lightspeed Branded Mile, designed to mirror the “high-velocity” nature of the event. This on-course activation will feature surprises and a heavy dose of motivation to propel runners toward the Avenue of the Stars.
“Retailers serving the running community need to operate with speed, precision, and consistency; whether in-store, online, or on race weekend,” said Mike Ganci, Managing Director of North American Retail for Lightspeed. “Lightspeed brings those capabilities together in a single platform, and we’re excited to support The McCourt Foundation in helping these businesses scale and perform at their best during the ASICS Los Angeles Marathon.”
