Portland’s signature marathon and the Beaverton-based brand continue their partnership with new activations to enhance training and race-day experiences
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Portland Marathon has announced a renewal of its partnership with Nike, as the event’s official footwear and apparel sponsor. This will be the brand’s second year serving as an official sponsor, with year two introducing monthly long runs in partnership with Foot Traffic to support runners and their journey to race day – stay tuned for details via their website, foottraffic.us/pdxlongruns.
Nike is the biggest champion for runners and the running community. The brand’s mission is to inspire and help solve the challenges that runners face to lace up and get out the door every day. As a race sponsor, Nike will host training experiences for all runners and a shakeout run. Last year’s shakeout was attended by over 1,000 participants and featured giveaways, footwear trialing, athlete appearances, a live DJ and recovery zone.
To foster community and welcome new runners, Nike will extend volunteer opportunities and registration discounts to employees, elevate on-course experiences and equip all race participants with a Dri-FIT Nike Running shirt.
“The 2025 Portland Marathon was unlike any I’ve experienced. Nike joining as a sponsor leveled up the moment. You could feel the energy throughout race weekend as over 9,000 runners, the largest field in nearly a decade, took to the streets of Portland,” said Aubrey Curl, Director of Partnerships at Brooksee, producer of the Portland Marathon. “It’s special to have Nike, a hometown running brand, join the City Signature Marathon to help grow the sport and increase race participation.”
With its deep Oregon roots and storied legacy in running, Nike’s Portland Marathon sponsorship and continued presence in the region is an example of the brand’s commitment to serving runners in its backyard. The brand’s investment in the Portland running community extends beyond its headquarters. From partnering with locally owned retailers, to powering up run clubs and local running organizations, Nike continues to invest in the future of sport by connecting communities and inspiring all athletes.
The 54th annual Portland Marathon takes place on Oct. 4. Registration for this year’s race is open and early signup is highly encouraged following last year’s sell out.
