
With nearly 15,000 registrations, the event welcomed its largest field to date
PORTLAND, Ore. – The 54th annual Portland Marathon presented by Nike Running took place on Oct. 4, with record-breaking registration numbers. The event had nearly 15,000 registrants, the largest number to date. The Portland Marathon presented by Nike Running offered four distances: a marathon, half marathon, 10K and the Kids Run. All distances provided the opportunity for participants to get a tour of the City of Roses on foot and experience the support of the local community.
The event also saw impressive results on the course, with Connor Ford, the men’s marathon champion and overall first-place finisher, completing his first marathon ever in 2:27:17, followed by the men’s marathon second-place finisher, Jake Stout. Zach Steele took the third-place spot for the men’s marathon. The women’s marathon course was led by Portland local Margaret Glad, who finished with a time of 2:52:42. Second and third-place finishers for the women’s marathon were Jenna Schwartz and Maria Conti. JL Odom claimed first in the gender expansive division with a time of 3:13:45, followed by second- and third-place finishers Georgie Okell and Brook Lindsey.
The men’s half marathon division was led by Micah Stutzman, who finished with a time of 1:06:02, while Jenny Schilling led the women’s division with a time of 1:14:29. Ted Wang, the gender expansive division leader, completed the course with a time of 1:28:02. The men’s 10K division was led by Cameron Peshon with a time of 33:44, while Sarah Reiter brought in first for the women’s division, finishing in 35:05. Fields Delmar led the gender expansive division with a time of 51:34.
“The Portland community is one-of-a-kind, especially when it comes to running and outdoor sports. With this being the city signature marathon, we understand the importance of community involvement, and continue to put effort towards expanding our relationships and partnerships with local groups and organizations,” said Austri Biddinger, Marketing Lead for the Portland Marathon presented by Nike Running. “Year-after-year we continue to see the runner’s experience grow and overall race demand increase, and plan to only grow from here with the help of the amazing Portland community.”
Race weekend also featured a shakeout run on Oct. 3, hosted by the event’s title sponsor, Nike Running. The event sold out in less than 12 hours and hosted 1,200 locals and visitors who took part in the free event at Nike World Headquarters. The shakeout run featured exclusive access to the Nike Company Store, the opportunity to trial the latest Nike Running Footwear, a recovery zone presented by Hyperice, hydration from Skratch Labs, Nike giveaways, special appearances and more.
