NOTE: A dramatic win for 36 year-old American Nathan Martin who ran down Kenya’s Michael Kimani Kamau in the last 400m and won by just 1/100th of a second. However, it should be noted that Kamau followed an exiting lead vehicle just before the final finish straight and lost valuable time. Last year’s winner Matthew Richtman, was a DNF. U.S.-based Kenyan Priscan Cherono, 45, won the women’s race by over two minutes and also claimed the battle of the sexes bonus of $10,000 (the elite women were given a 15 minute, 45 second headstart). Kellyn Taylor completed her second marathon of the year and took second in a solid 2:27:37 –Ed.
NOTE II: There was a big increase in prize money here. Last year’s winners received $10,000 vs. $25,000 this year. Last year prizes went three-deep vs. five-deep this year –Ed.
