June 3, 2026, Washington, DC: Credit Union Cherry Blossom (CUCB) race organizers announced today that 2025 second place female overall finisher Adane Anmaw from Ethiopia has been removed from the official results due to anti-doping violations. As a result of this disqualification, Anmaw will also not receive the $3,000 in open prize money and $750 time bonus she earned as the runner up in the race held on April 6, 2025. She was competing in the open division of the event, which served as the USATF National 10 Mile Championship. None of the Championship results were affected by the disqualification. Anmaw had accepted a five-year period of ineligibility.
Anmaw declared a therapeutic use exemption (TUE) of an amino acid solution at the 2025 CUCB, but a subsequent investigation by U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) found the levels in her system were in excess of those allowable under the TUE. CUCB withheld all of the women’s prize money after being notified by USADA of a potential adverse finding. With this ban, athletes placing below her will be moved up one place each and receive supplemental prize money payments to reflect their new finish place.
Event Director Phil Stewart said, “Adane’s ban by USADA is a win for all of the clean athletes participating in our event. The Credit Union Cherry Blossom 10 Mile, as part of the PRRO Circuit, is committed to drug testing the elite athletes each year in order to ensure a level playing field.”
The 2025 CUCB celebrated a record-breaking year, with women’s overall winner Taylor Roe setting a World’s Best and American Record of 49:53 for 10 Miles as part of the 2025 USA Track & Field 10 Mile National Championships. With Anmaw being stricken from the results, Emma Grace Hurley is now recognized as the 2025 second place female finisher.

Hurley would go on to follow up her 2025 performance by winning the 2026 USATF Women’s National 10 Mile Championship and finishing third overall at the 2026 CUCB in April.
