Tyler Jermann to Run Grandma’s Marathon; Katy Moen, Danny Docherty to Compete in Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon on June 16 in Duluth
Minneapolis/St. Paul – June 13, 2018 – Three Team USA Minnesota distance runners will travel to Duluth this weekend with Tyler Jermann set to run Grandma’s Marathon, while Katy Moen and Danny Docherty will compete in the companion Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. The 28th annual half marathon starts at 6:15 a.m. and the 42nd annual marathon begins at 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, June 16.
This will be Jermann’s third appearance at Grandma’s Marathon having finished 10th in both 2017 and 2016. He has a best in the 26.2-mile distance of 2:16:39 which he set in January at the Houston Marathon where he finished seventh. His credentials also include third and fourth place finishes at the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2016 and 2017 respectively, and he was the 2017 USATF 50k Champion.
Moen will run the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon for the first time. She has a best of 1:14:30 in the distance. This spring she finished sixth in the USATF 25k Championships in Grand Rapids with a time of 1:29:59. Closer to home in Minneapolis, Moen was third at the Get in Gear 10k in April with a time of 33:53, and then won the Brian Kraft 5k in May posting 16:13.
Docherty competed in the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon last year and finished 16th. He has a best in the distance of 1:06:15 which he set in February at the Gasparilla Half Marathon in Tampa.
