Former Navy Seal Commander Mark McGinnis will finish his personal challenge where it began by completing his thirteenth and final Marathon Sunday, December 2 at the FITTEAM Palm Beaches Marathon, raising funds and awareness for the SEAL Legacy Foundation.
McGinnis started his journey December 3, 2017 at the FITTEAM Palm Beaches Marathon and completed additional Marathons in Clearwater (January), Austin (February), Peoria, AZ (March), Athens, OH (April), Kennebunkport, ME (May), San Diego (June), Portland (July), Santa Rosa CA (August), St. Charles IL (September), Baltimore (October), and Charlotte (November).
FITTEAM sponsored all 13 races in support of the SEAL Legacy Foundation and McGinnis' noble mission.
"As a military veteran myself, I am so proud to support Commander Mark McGinnis and the SEAL Legacy Foundation on behalf of FITTEAM," said Chris Hummel, CEO and founder of FITTEAM. "Mark's commitment and performance are an inspiration. And the mission of the SEAL Legacy Foundation is so admirable, we are thrilled to support this initiative."
The SEAL Legacy Foundation is a 501(C)(3), nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support to families of wounded and fallen United States Navy SEALs, educational assistance for SEALs and their families, and other charitable causes benefiting the SEAL community. The Foundation was established in 2011 by SEALs to preserve their legacy of no one left behind. FITTEAM is the first sponsor of Commander's "13 in 12" run, embodying FITTEAM's mantra of improving lives globally by providing a vehicle for people to get "FIT" physically, financially, spiritually and emotionally.
Epitomizing the creed that "the only easy day was yesterday," McGinnis announced his "Legacy 13 Run presented by FITTEAM Global" -- 13 marathons in one year to raise awareness and funds for the SEAL Legacy Foundation.
McGinnis, who serves as founder and managing director of the Foundation, kicked off his mission at the FITTEAM Palm Beaches Marathon on December 3, 2017. Now he's back for the final run.
"As grueling as 13-in-12 may be, it pales in comparison to the sacrifices U.S. Navy SEALs and their families make on a daily basis," McGinnis said. "While I may no longer be serving on active duty, I will never be out of the fight to serve my brothers in the SEAL teams and to ensure that no one is left behind."
Registration is open at $110 for the Marathon, $90 for the Half Marathon, $60 for the 10K and $40 for the 5K. Packages for entry into multiple races are available along with more information at fitteampalmbeachesmarathon.com.
