Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth June 17; Ryan Rutherford to Run Steamboat Classic June 17; Portland Track Festival Results
Minneapolis/St. Paul – June 13, 2017 – Team USA Minnesota’s Rob Molke and Jon Peterson, along with training partners Josh Dedering and Danny Docherty, will compete in the elite field of the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon in Duluth on June 17. On the same day, Ryan Rutherford will be in Peoria, Illinois, to run in the Steamboat Classic 4 Mile.
Molke ran in the Garry Bjorklund Half last year and finished eighth. He has a best in the distance of 1:03:27. Peterson has a best of 1:04:26 in the half marathon. Most recently, at the Pittsburgh Half Marathon on May 7, Peterson finished ninth and Molke was 10th.
Dedering’s best in the half marathon is 1:03:31 with Docherty having posted 1:08:53 in the distance. At the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile in Washington, D.C., on April 2, Docherty ran a time of 49:54 and he was second at the Get in Gear 10k in Minneapolis on April 29.
The Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon starts at 6:15 a.m. along the North Shore of Lake Superior and finishes in downtown Duluth.
In Peoria this Saturday, Rutherford will compete in the annual Steamboat Classic 4 Mile. He recently won the Brian Kraft 5k in Minneapolis on May 29 with a time of 14:15. The Steamboat race starts at 7:00 a.m.
Portland Track Festival Results
Meghan Peyton and Kevin Lewis both finished in the top 10 of their respective 10,000 meter races at the Portland Track Festival in Oregon on June 10. Peyton was eighth with a time of 33:54.17, while Lewis was 10th in 28:56.66 which was a personal best (previous best was 28:59). Also running in the men’s 10,000 meter event at Portland was Ryan Rutherford who finished in 29:36.49.
