Team USA Minnesota Runners to Assist with TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run on May 20; vent Officials Expect over 1,000 Kids
Minneapolis/St. Paul – May 17, 2017 – Team USA Minnesota distance runners Heather Kampf, Meghan Peyton, Jon Peterson and Rob Molke along with training partner Danny Docherty will provide assistance at the TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run on Saturday morning, May 20. The event is hosted by Twin Cities In Motion with over 1,000 kids expected to participate.
The cross country runs of a half mile, one mile, 2 miles and a 5k will be held at Como Park in St. Paul starting at 9:00 a.m. Participants will include kids from preschoolers up through junior high.
The Team USA Minnesota runners will conduct pre-race warmups, run with the kids, encourage and cheer for the runners, hand out medals at the finish line, and be available for autographs and photo opportunities with the kids.
Kampf is a four-time national champion in the road mile and is one of the country’s top milers, having won 24 road miles since 2011, with a best of 4:19 in the distance. She’s also been a three-time U.S. world relay team member and was on the 2014 U.S. World Indoor team in the 1500 meters.
Peyton was the 2013 USA 20k Champion, has been a two-time qualifier for the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials, and has been a multiple-time top 10 finisher in national championships from the mile up through the marathon.
Peterson’s credentials include a 4-minute mile, 13:33 in the 5000 meters, and a 1:04 in the half marathon distance. Molke has run 1:03 in the half marathon and was eighth at the 2016 Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon. Last fall Peterson finished seventh and Molke was 11th in the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon. This spring, training partner Docherty posted 49:54 at the Cherry Blossom 10 Mile and was second at the Get in Gear 10k.
