Heather Kampf Places 4th at Millrose Wanamaker Mile; Two Team USA Minnesota Men to Run 3000m at U of M Snowshoe Open Feb. 17
Minneapolis/St. Paul – Feb. 13, 2017 – Team USA Minnesota’s Heather Kampf finished fourth in the prestigious Wanamaker Mile at the 110th NYRR Millrose Games in New York City on Feb. 11. Her time was 4:28.39. Kampf is now qualified in both the mile and the two mile for the USATF Indoor Championships which will be held in Albuquerque March 4-5.
At the Wanamaker Mile, which was shown on national TV, Kampf was in eighth place at the 1500 meter mark and moved up to secure her spot in the top four. Her finishing time was just slightly over her personal best on the indoor track of 4:27.23.
On Feb. 17, two Team USA Minnesota runners – Kevin Lewis and Rob Molke – along with training partner Josh Dedering will compete in the 3000 meters at the Snowshoe Open, which will be held at the University of Minnesota Fieldhouse. The running events start at 5 p.m. with the 3000m set for the next to last event that evening.
Lewis has a best of 7:57.06 in the 3000m, Molke has run 8:05, and Dedering will be contesting the event for the first time. All three are using the race as a tune-up for the USATF 15k Championships which will be held in Jacksonville on March 11.
