Last year, Kampf won five road miles – Bermuda, Grand Blue, Liberty, Navy and the USA 1 Mile Championships – and set a personal best of 4:19.8 in the road mile at the New York City Fifth Avenue Mile, where she finished third. She also competed in the 1500 meters at the USATF Indoor Championships and at the USATF Olympic Track & Field Trials.
During 2016, Kampf set PR’s of 4:04.46 in the 1500m, 4:27.23 in the track mile, and made a strong debut of 8:58.31 in the 3000m.
She will be recognized at the annual USATF Minnesota Awards Celebration on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis. Also receiving Athlete of the Year Awards at the event will be Team USA Minnesota Board members Lance Elliott and Susan Loyd for men’s and women’s masters track & field respectively.
Aramco Houston Half Marathon – Jan. 15
Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners competed at the Aramco Houston Half Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 15, where temperatures were in the upper 60’s, with 94 percent humidity and a fog that settled over the downtown skyline.
In his debut at the distance, Ryan Rutherford posted 1:06:25 and was followed closely by Kevin Lewis, who ran a personal best of 1:06:53 (previous best was 1:08:31). Rob Molke crossed the finish line in 1:07:47 and Jon Peterson had a time of 1:07:55.
Also debuting at the distance was Jamie Cheever who set a mark of 1:17:41.
