Meghan Peyton, Tyler Jermann to Compete at USA Marathon Championships in Sacramento Dec. 3; Heather Kampf Wins Turkey Day 5k in Minneapolis
Minneapolis/St. Paul – Nov. 28, 2017 – Team USA Minnesota’s Meghan Peyton and Tyler Jermann will be among the deep field of American competitors at the USATF Marathon Championships for men and women on Dec. 3. The championships are being hosted by the California International Marathon (CIM) in Sacramento.
The race starts at 7:00 a.m. (Pacific time) and goes from Folsom Dam to the State Capitol. The point-to-point course has rolling hills for the first 21 miles, followed by a flat and fast last 5 miles.
Peyton has a best of 2:38:57 in the distance. In 2015 she finished eighth at the USA Marathon Championships, was 10th in 2014, and posted a ninth place finish in 2013. She is the 2013 USA 20k Champion.
Jermann has run a best of 2:16:52 in the marathon. He posted a fourth place finish at the 2017 Pittsburgh Marathon and was third at the 2016 Pittsburgh Marathon. He is also the 2017 USA 50k Champion in a time of 2:48:56.
Turkey Day 5k
Heather Kampf won the annual CenturyLink Turkey Day 5k presented by LifeTime.Life on Nov. 23 in downtown Minneapolis. The miler, who is a four-time USA Champion in the Road Mile, posted a time of 16:50.
Over 7,100 people representing 42 different states finished this year’s Turkey Day 5k. In addition, participants provided more than 48,000 meals to families in need and raised over $15,000 for Second Harvest Heartland.
