Meghan Peyton 12th, Ryan Rutherford 18th at USATF 10 Mile Championships at Twin Cities; Brianna Sieracki Wins TC 5k

Minneapolis/St. Paul – Oct. 2, 2017 – Team USA Minnesota’s Meghan Peyton was 12th in the women’s field and Ryan Rutherford was 18th in the men’s field at the USATF 10 Mile Championships hosted by the Medtronic TC 10 Mile on Oct. 1.  In the companion TC 5k, presented by Fredrikson and Byron on Sept. 30, Breanna Sieracki finished first in the women’s field in her debut as a professional runner with Team USA Minnesota.
Peyton’s time was 57:45 while Rutherford posted 49:12 in his debut at the distance.  Also competing in the 10 Mile Championships were Tyler Jermann, who was 26th in 49:42; Kevin Lewis who finished in 29th place in 49:54; and Rob Molke who was 32nd in 50:42.
“We were excited to have a chance to compete in a U.S. Championship on our home turf,” said Team USA Minnesota coach Chris Lundstrom, who is now in his second year as head coach.  “Having three guys under 50 minutes represents a good step forward for the team and I am happy with the progress we have made in the last year.
“The fields for the 10 mile race were very strong, so it gave us a good opportunity to see how we are progressing as we prepare for our goal races ahead, including the USATF Marathon Championships that will be held in Sacramento in early December.
“It was also great to see Breanna run well on Saturday in the TC 5k, marking her first race with our team.”  Sieracki’s winning time was 17:01.
