Marine Corps Marathon Celebrates Registration with Rosslyn Community on March 7

QUANTICO, VA (February 29, 2012) - Come one, come all to the Marine Corps Marathon (MCM) Registration Roadshow in celebration of the opening of registration for the October marathon. The grand celebration is free and open-to-all in Rosslyn, VA on Wednesday, March 7 from noon to 1:30 p.m. In 2011, MCM registration closed in a record 28 hours driving the MCM name to the top of the Google trends list.

The running and non-running public is invited to this traveling extravaganza on North Lynn Street outside Rosslyn Metro Park for giveaways, prizes, tons of free vintage MCM shirts and entertainment by Mix 107.3 FM.

The Registration Roadshow, co-hosted by the Rosslyn Business Improvement District, occurs just prior to MCM registration opening online to the public at 3 p.m. EST on March 7 at www.marinemarathon.com. The 37th MCM will be held on Oct. 28 in Arlington, VA and the nation's capital. Registration will not be available at the Roadshow.

"What better way to capture the excitement of registration than to take 'The People's Marathon' to the people of Rosslyn and Arlington for a lunch-time celebration," says Rick Nealis, MCM Director. "Thousands of runners are excited about making the commitment to run this marathon, very often their first, and we salute them as they embark on training for this world class event."

Rosslyn is the location of the MCM Finish Festival where triumphant runners and supportive spectators gather at the conclusion of "The People's Marathon."

About the MCM: Voted the "Best Marathon for Families" and the "Best Marathon in the Mid Atlantic," the Marine Corps Marathon honors the dedication, sportsmanship and patriotism of its participants. Runners from all walks of life participate in the largest marathon not to offer prize money, earning the name "The People's Marathon." The 37th MCM will be held on October 28, 2012 in Arlington, VA.
