RESOURCES FOR RACE DIRECTORS

Inaugural Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon and Frontrunner Relay

There will be a new half marathon in Columbus, Ohio on August 31, 2008 - The Spirit of Columbus Half Marathon and FRONTRUNNER Relay. The course features a unique and super-fast, point-to-point, downhill course with spectacular scenery.

Race organizers, VictoryMan Racing, LLC dba Run Wild Racing, expect this inaugural race to draw over 3,000 amateur runners from 30 states, and 50 elite runners from 5 countries. The runners will be treated to course entertainment, long sleeve technical shirts, and finisher medals. The top five overall male and female will receive special awards. In addition, the top five in all age groups (15-19, 20-24 up to 75+), Clydesdale, Athena, and all relay teams divisions will receive awards.

Elite runners will be competing for a prize purse of $25,000 and the chance to set a national record on the downhill course. First place elite male and female finishers will each take home $5,000. An additional $5,000 purse will be awarded to top masters runners. Wheelchair prize money will also be awarded in the sum of $5,000 and go seven deep. Elite runners must meet qualifying times to be considered for the prize money. For more information see the race website at: www.spiritofcolumbushalf.com

The race will also feature a two-day Expo at the Embassy Suites in Dayton. The race will be timed by AMB chip timing.

Victory Man Racing, LLC is the brainchild of Shannon Kurek and Doug Grout, who built the organization to create an umbrella brand that would maintain and strengthen the distinctive brands that Doug and Shannon have built over the past twenty-plus years-HFP Racing and Run Wild Racing. A year of partnering convinced Doug and Shannon, in the late months of 2007, that merging the two organizations was the logical next step: the merger would build both brands as the continued leaders in their respective athletic communities.
